Boot Up the Butte

2,907 Hikes and a Whole Lot of Community Spirit

One of my favorite things about living here is seeing our community come together for something that matters. The effort to protect access to High School Butte was a perfect example — and I loved being part of it.

The goal was 1,000 hikes. Our community didn’t just reach it; we blew right past it, logging an incredible 2,907 hikes! That kind of turnout says so much about how much this place means to the people who call this valley home.

And the best part? The future of the High School Butte trailhead is secured, helping ensure this beloved open space remains accessible to the community for generations to come. On top of that, an additional $30,000 was raised to improve trails and restore habitat.

From the people who laced up their hiking boots to those who donated, cheered others on, or supported the effort in their own way, everyone played a part. Local businesses added to the fun, too, reminding us how much good can happen when neighbors and local partners rally around a shared goal.

I’m feeling grateful to live in a community that cares this much — one that shows up, gets outside, and turns enthusiasm into meaningful action.
