A TRIBUTE TO 399 - NEIL SIMMONS

In late October, Jackson Hole lost one of its own, the world famous Grizzly bear that has been dubbed the "Queen of the Tetons" (named 399 for her number). I asked Neil Simmons (pictured to the left) if I could feature one of his classic shots of 399 and her cubs. Having her own social media and followings, 399 captured the hearts of many tourists worldwide and locals alike. She was 28 years old when she was accidentally struck by a motorist south of Jackson. I had the opportunity to see her and her cubs while on a run in my neighborhood and I came on highway 22 to see standstill traffic only to discover 399 and her cubs had just crossed the road where I was about to run. If you would like to purchase Neil's work or hire his photography services, you can click below. Some of my favorite photographs besides 399 pictures are his images of the Tetons and Northern Lights.
