Timeless Design

Andrea Wood has been in the business of designing people’s dream homes for 40+ years. (Intro picture is also Andrea's work at Snake River Sporting Club). Her approach is one that I respect and admire. She is not one who chases fads, but loves finding timeless high quality pieces. In addition, she enjoys designs that best suit the owners desires and uses of the spaces. When she meets prospective clients, she asks them to describe a typical day in their home. Next, since we are primarily a second home market, she asks them to imagine a day that they have guests or extended family in the spaces. Once she finds out what they envision their home activities to be, she structures the furnishings to meet those goals both romantic as well as practical. Another thing I keyed into is that Andrea pays attention not only to seasons and how they interact with house structural elements, but also time of day. The advantage of picking a local designer is that they are more familiar with our weather and climate and how that can affect building and furnishings materials. For example, ordering wooden furniture made in Indonesia and bringing to the Jackson area could create an issue, especially when our drier climate may cause wood to dry out, shrink, and possibly crack. What’s a good tip to add for design for 2024? Stick to neutrals with warm undertones to update your color palette for 2024.
